Making university affordable is an important factor when choosing where to study. University Centre Peterborough offers lower tuition fees compared with other universities and provides a variety of bursaries for all students.
The HE tuition fee policy below identifies the fee amounts, fee liability points, procedures for the assessment and our fee appeal process. It is important that you read this document so you understand your rights and responsibilities.
The following tuition fees are for all UK and EU/EEA students starting in 2024/25 at University Centre Peterborough. The course fees for each course are stated on the course information pages on this website. All tuition fees may be subject to an annual inflationary increase.
£8,250 per year full-time (part-time fees calculated based on credits studied-this can be found on the individual course pages)
Tuition fees for Higher Nationals vary depending on whether you are full or part-time
Professional Studies are £6,935 per year for full-time students.
Professional Graduate Diplomas/Certificates are £2,500 per year for part-time students.
The diploma is a two year course and is £6,500 for the whole course, (£3250 per year)
There may be additional costs for the course which are not covered by your tuition fee. Please refer to the course information page for additional costs that relate to your course, this will include, but is not limited to, colour and large format copying, IT equipment, stationary, transport and sport gym kit. Please note that if you fail a unit, you may also incur re-sit costs.
To pay for your studies you may be eligible for a student finance loan from student finance england. Your eligibility for this depends on if you have studied a higher education course before, your age, your nationality or residency status. The easiest way to apply for student finance is online at www.gov.uk/student-finance. Applications for academic year 24/25 are now open (these tend to open each year around March/April). It can take a minimum of six to eight weeks to process your application, so you should apply for student finance as soon as possible.

You can apply for a tuition fee loan to cover the full cost of the tuition fees. Tuition fees are not means-tested so your household income does not affect your entitlement and you will be entitled to the full amount. Student Finance England pays the fees directly to University Centre Peterborough and you do not need to pay any fees upfront.
Maintenance loan
Full-time and part-time students can apply for a maintenance loan to help with living costs such as accommodation, food, bills, transport, study resources and books. The Student Loans Company will pay the maintenance loan directly into your bank account over three instalments.
The amount of maintenance loan you are entitled to will depend on your personal circumstances, mode of study (face-to-face, blended or online), household income, your age, what year of study you are in, and whether you are living at home or away from home. These levels are determined by the government and not set by UCP.

The figures above are for students studying in the 2024/25 academic year. Our Student Support team can help advise you on an individual basis so you receive what you are entitled to. Please refer to the Financial Support section on the website for more information.
Both the tuition fee loan and maintenance loan are combined together to make your student finance loan. You do not start to pay back any of your student finance until the April after you have graduated (or if you withdraw from your course). If you do decide to withdraw you must contact student support who can advise on fee liability.
The amount you pay back is linked to your earnings. You will only start repaying when your income is over £25,000 a year. The amount is taken monthly from your wages the same way as income tax or national insurance. If you are self-employed you pay when you complete your annual tax returns. The table below gives you an indication of what your repayments could look like based on your yearly income before tax.

If you have not paid back all the student finances after 30 years this is then written off.
You are able to self fund your course. If you are self funding you will need to pay â…“ of the course fees for that academic year on enrolment. The remaining fees should then be paid in two remaining instalments by the end of March.

EU students must provide evidence to UCP of their Settled Status or Pre-settled Status when applying for a course. This will be a condition of any offer made by UCP.
