Former Photography Student, Emily Colhoun, Visited Stamford College Earlier This Year To Deliver A Presentation Of Her Work To Students

“Inspire Education Group gave me the confidence to progress onto things I never could have dreamed of”

After studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography at Stamford College, Emily Colhoun continued her educational journey with Inspire Education Group, enrolling on a Foundation Degree in Creative & Editorial Photography at University Centre Peterborough. Emily has gone on to complete an Undergraduate Degree and a Masters Degree, and now works as a Marketing & Business Support Assistant.

Emily explained how her time studying with Inspire Education Group prepared her for the future: “the Level 3 Diploma and the Foundation Degree didn’t just give me the foundation skills I wanted to learn, but gave me the confidence to progress into things I never could have dreamed of. I never thought I was good enough to progress into an Undergraduate Degree, let alone a Masters, and that’s all thanks to Stamford College”.

Praising Inspire Education Group’s teaching staff, Emily said, “I’ve had some fantastic tutors over the years. Mike in particular was one of a kind – he was a great tutor, who guided and educated me, which was especially important for me in those early years in which I had little knowledge and confidence”. Emily continued, “During my Foundation Degree, Dan and Steve helped me to refine my skills. I really valued one-to-one time. I’m really appreciative of the contextual and technical help in these years”.

Emily was also keen to mention Learning Support Assistant, Claire White; “I’m disabled, and use an electric-powered wheelchair to get around. From the moment I started at Stamford College, to the moment I left, I was supported by Claire White. I have never felt so supported and cared for by anyone else within my entire education. She was a shining light for me throughout my entire journey through Stamford College, and she made it possible for me to achieve such possibilities. A true friend then, but most importantly, one for my life”.

Emily spoke fondly of her overall College and University experience; “The chapter of my life I spent studying at Stamford College and University Centre Peterborough was an adventure that allowed me to grow and become a better version of myself, ready for all my next chapters”.
