Uniformed Services Careers & Progression Conference 2023

University Centre Peterborough, in conjunction with Take Your Place, hosted Level 2 and 3 Public Services students from Peterborough College and Stamford College, at their Uniformed Services Careers & Progression Conference 2023, showcasing various work avenues available to them after education.

Across the day, there were a plethora of lectures and activities laid on for the students, giving them insight into many different jobs. Lectures covered a variety of Uniformed Service areas, such as Crime Scene Investigation and Examiners, Fire Control Room, Prison Custody Officers and Ambulance Services.

These talks ran across the morning, and after a short break for lunch, the students were able to experience a ‘realistic’ crime scene which had been set up in the University’s Crime Bungalow. The students had the opportunity to explore and make observations on a car and room situation, including a murder weapon, fingerprints, footprints and more.

During this activity, the students had to take fingerprints, look for any clues and devise a situation for how they thought the crime played out. The students who managed to come up with the best situation, as well as did the most accurate observations for their evidence, were awarded prizes at the end of the day.

Overall, the day was a great success and offered valuable insight into different workplaces for the Colleges’ Public Services students. To view the wide range of courses that University Centre Peterborough has on offer, please click the link below.
