What is Clearing?
“Clearing” is the process in which universities colleges fill any places they still have remaining on their courses.
You can apply for a course through Clearing from 5 July – 20 October 2025, if you’re not already holding an offer from a university or college, and the course still has places.
Am I Eligible for Clearing?
Clearing can be an option for you as long as:
- you’re applying after 30 June
- you didn’t receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)
- you didn’t meet the conditions of your offers
- you’ve declined your firm place using the ‘decline my place’ button in your application.
Clearing Dates
Clearing is open from 5 July until 20 October 2025.
If you’re applying through Clearing on results day, you can add a Clearing choice in your UCAS Hub from:
- 10:00 on 5 August (SQA results day)
- 13:00 on 14 August (A level results day)
